This is us.
Our Family. Our story.
George - The dad
My father started his career as a ship mechanic due to his love with the sea. However, falling in love with my mum changed his plans. He settled back at his hometown devoted his life in nature and tourism. You will probably get a taste of the goods he’s cultivating in your “welcome basket”. He is the owner and headwaiter of Cavo Liakas restaurant for almost 35 years. His passion for providing excellent service became so strong that he was given the nickname “Smiling George”.
Kate - The mum
My mum is the inspiration behind everything. The famous saying “Behind every successful man there stands a strong woman” perfectly describes this situation. She is the one that had the visions for both the restaurant (Cavo Liakas) and the apartments. She was not only the one managing the businesses but had also established recipes in the restaurant that are still being used today. Kate has been a great role model to me, and she is the reason why I developed the passion in our businesses and tourism.
Evangelia - The grandma
My mum’s mum known as “yiayia” (grandma in Greek) to some of our customers. Despite living in Piraeus, she has been coming to Kefalonia every single touristic season in order to take care of my brother and me. She passed her great cooking skills and principles to her daughter, and in the summer, you will find her hanging out with the rest of the family at our restaurant.
John - The brother
My brother is currently studying at the University of Leeds. He has a strong connection with the sea as he was a rower, and has been involved in fishing and water sports since a very young age. This is why he is still returning to the island every summer and working in the restaurant as a waiter for the past 4 summer seasons. He is also the one that supports me with managing the apartments during busy periods.
Gerry - My partner
He has been my partner since 2015 and has been a massive support to me. He worked in the restaurant as a waiter for 2 seasons (2017-2018) and was known as the “dessert guy”. Returning customers kept looking for him the following seasons, but he is now the owner of the “BazOil” fuel station in Argostoli. When he is not working, he is helping me deal with the day-to-day issues of the accommodations as he is a great handyman.
